Hello!
My name is Reed, and I started Hackberry Records in 2006 with both grandiose and practical expectations. Basically, I wanted to release my band's records to the public. With time, this simple goal has turned into a full-fledged mission to bring artists that I believe in to the forefront.
We are very humble around here. My office is my bedroom and our budget is what's in my wallet at the time. That's not usually much. Perhaps someday we could have the resources to rule the musical landscape with an iron fist... but in the meantime, we'll stick with taking chances and attempting to grow our artists just a little bit more every single day.
You see, I do this because it makes me happy. There is nothing in the world greater than seeing an artist that I believe in succeed. That's why everyone picks up an instrument in the first place-- to make something that can move people and communicate a feeling or emotion. If you're checking this site out, it's because you are seeking out art that will "flip the switch" in you.
Hopefully, we can provide that. We are growing just a little bit every single day, and we're confident that 2010 is going to be a special year for our label and our artists. We'll be bringing more people into the fold and, hopefully, building real connections with people like you.
With that being said, I'd like to personally thank you for checking out our little operation, and invite you to stay connected with what we're trying to do here. First of all, I'd love to draw your attention to the calendar that's on the right side of our homepage. We would love for you to come out and check out an artist on our label. In a world where music seems to be devalued more and more every day, live music is the lifeblood of what we do. Support live music!
The address at the bottom of this page is our actual address-- and we accept demos. Don't e-mail them, because it'll get lost in the shuffle. Send them, via regular old US Mail to that address, and I'll listen to it. I promise.
